在2021年法国宇航员Thomas Pesquet完成了半年的国际太空站 (International Space Station)外派任务， 而Elon Musk以及Jeff Bezos两位科技富豪也完成了外太空旅游的第一步。在这个时间点，外太空探索似乎又创了新的历史时刻，而这本书完整地回顾了人类与外太空探索的历史。多年的科幻小说背景都是外太空探索，而在1961年4月12日，这个幻想成真了：Vostok 3KA太空箭的起飞，里面带着苏联的Yuri Gagarin，让他成为历史上第一位跨进外太空的人类。从此以后，外太空探索，不论是到月亮还是火星，一直是科学家的梦想。

关于作者：

Roland Lehoucq是一位French Atomic Energy Commission的天体物理学家。他同时是一位演讲师以及作家。他在Ecole Polytechnique and Sciences Po Paris担任教师，也曾经为许多巴黎知名的科学博物馆的科学展览担任馆长。The International Astonomical Union曾以他命名一颗小行星。他是许多科学书的作者，包括：g D’où viennent les pouvoirs de Superman? (EDP Sciences, 2003) and Faire de la science avec Star Wars (Le Pommier, 2005 / Editions Le Bélial, 2015)。

Florence Porcel是一位作家、电台主持人、电视主持人以及社交媒体影响人物。她拥有对于科学以及外太空探索的深爱，自从2016年每周会主持一个名叫La Folle HIstoire de L’univers的视频博客。她在2016年开始写作，也是这一年开始跟CNES制作的youtube频道 String Theory合作。
