Emily Hourican是作家也是记者，为《爱尔兰周日独立报》（Sunday Independent）撰写专题文章已长达十年，《图像杂志》（Image magazine）、《旅游者杂志》（Conde Nast Traveler）、《女人与家庭杂志》（Woman and Home）等刊物也能看到她的文章。同时，她也是《都柏林人杂志》（The Dubliner Magazine）的编辑。2013年Hourican出版了第一本自传式散文《如何成为（真正的）母亲》（How To (Really) Be A Mother），内容诙谐有趣、真挚深刻，纪录她如何不再伪装，而是学习以自己的方式成为真正的母亲。目前Hourican和丈夫与三子居住在都柏林。
